Another recipe from the Urrutia household coming at 'cha'. I'll just say, I think I figured out why flour and sugar flew off the shelf when this 2020 Pandemic quarantine was set in place. Everyone is baking!
This one is a little on the not so healthy side, but it was different, and we needed a change of scenery for breakfast. The best part is we had everything in our pantry to make it right away!
Hadley is such a mini me. She wants to do literally everything I am doing. From drinking coffee or tea, reading, doing hair and makeup, and as you can see, baking. I'm definitely not complaining, it's a great way to spend quality time with her. It also helps build up her culinary skills. I highly encourage those of you with little ones to do the same. Even if its just pouring the dry ingredients in and mixing it together.
The finished dough for these waffle 'donuts' was very thick and I was a little worried when I discovered that, but our mini waffle maker sure did the job. I LOVE this waffle maker! It's easy to clean and comes in handy for quick morning breakfasts. Not only can you make waffles, but they are great for making egg sandwich, perfect for Keto/Low Carb meals!
The cooking time took a lot longer than I had anticipated. You could certainly cut the time in half and do these a normal size waffler maker, too. Once I had them all cooked, it was time for the fun part! You just dip them in melted butter and a sugar an cinnamon mixture. Then you have yourself a cinnamon waffle donut!
They were nice and fluffy, a tad dense, but tasted PERFECT with a side of strawberries and a hot cup of french vanilla coffee! I'll be sure to share the recipe below. Leave me a comment if you give these a try, and let me know what you think!
